At present, EADS holds 80 percent shares of Airbus, whereas BAE holds 20 percent shares of the company. a supervisory council has been established to look into the operation of airbus. This committee is actually a shareholder committee and consists of seven members only. In this committee five members come from EADS, while the remaining two come from BAE. The committee is responsible for approving budget of Airbus (Airbus, 2010). This shareholder committee also helps in making and implementing investment strategies of the firm. Later on Airbus significant effort has been made to reorganize the company to build several centers of excellence with an aim to earn profit. Each of these centers is authorized with the power of making their own manufacturing and buying policies relating to the production of different parts of aircrafts. They are allowed to make subcontract in order to reduce costs. This kind of o perational set up has been chosen by this aircraft company as for this industry, this policy seems to be the most effective way of building and maintaining profitability. Presently, airbus has four subsidiaries which are authorized to take their own operational decisions. These subsidiaries are airbus of North America, Airbus of China, Airbus Japan and Airbus Transport International. It is a very profitable company and presently it offers its supports more than 3000 aircrafts with 250 operators. Policy memo- armed forces Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Policy memo- armed forces - Essay Example Kip Kippling had been mobilizing the citizens to press on the formation of independent and withdrawal of the government since his return from Nation Y, sending mixed signals which need urgent intervention by our authorities. Kippling and his followers had been pressuring the government to form a care taker in consultation with the judiciary and the military. However, the calls to seek the consultations from the military by the demonstrating citizens have given some democrats that Kippling is working on behalf of the army chief. We, therefore, move urgently to reject such notions and urge all the citizens of Nation X to have a clean perspective on the military roles in the country. The roles involve protecting the citizens from the countryââ¬â¢s enemies which can destabilize the economy as whole. This is the reason for writing this memo for the people informing everyone one not be have treasonous attitude on the same (Sehbai & Malick, 2011). Hence, we request all the government sta keholders to move fast and settle the issues, which threaten the countryââ¬â¢s stability and democracy. The critical issues are diminishing the sovereignty of the Nation X and an urgent solution need to be taken, where the military section can offer support if all efforts turn sour. It is against our policies to keep an eye of a citizen of country X losing his properties in a day or even the life and yet it is our biggest role. The stakeholders in the government and the citizens need to have a common goal in building and developing the economy of the country but not to play a hide and seek game to root the countryââ¬â¢s wealth. There are various occurrences happening everyday in the country that are threats to the people and the country as whole. One of the critical issue which must be acted upon as an urgent case is the focus on eliminating corruption. The government must form an independent commission to be the eye watch of the citizens. The example of the corruption in the country had been justified by the conviction of the Prime Minister Burt Macklin by the Supreme Court on corruption charges. The conviction resulted to the coalition between the government and the opposition parties to make defend the Prime Minister. Defending the corrupt leaders will not only affect the people of Nation X but also affect the prosperity of the economic status. In this reason, we as a defense organ request for steering effort to form an independent organ to secure the country and its citizens from this impunity by political leaders. Another issue which needs an attention is the abuse of efforts to have a democratic country. This has been extremely shown when the political parties formed a coalition to reinforce the Prime Minister from being convicted by the judiciary. Undermining the judiciary in a democratic country means no rule of law is practiced. Meaning the law breakers will not be punished according to the wish of the people due to political forces. This must b e avoided as itââ¬â¢s a malicious and abuse of the constitution which abides the sovereignty. If this tolerates, the military officers will be always ready to protect the countryââ¬â¢s people and the constitution. Judiciary must be always independent to carry out their implementation of the constitution as mandated without the influence of the political strength and force. The third hurting issue in the country is about the coming general elections which are
Lateral violence Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Lateral violence - Essay Example Many theories have been put forward to explain the phenomena in nursing but low self-esteem plays a major role in perpetrating lateral violence. This paper discusses lateral violence in nursing. In nursing profession, Kramer (1974) defines lateral violence as unsuitable behavior or aggression between fellow nursing colleagues. Lateral violence occurs between nurses working on the same level of nursing hierarchy. A nurse who uses this kind of violence usually intends to inflict psychological pain to the other colleague. The violence manifests itself differently and Griffin (2004) indentified ten forms of lateral violence including non-verbal innuendo, withholding information, verbal affront, undermining activities, infighting, and sabotage. In addition, scapegoating, backstabbing, broken confidences and failure to respect privacy are other forms of lateral violence between nurses (Griffin, 2004). Lateral violence is a serious problem in nursing and many research studies indicate an in creasing trend of the vice in health care institutions. A study conducted by Institute of Medicine (2004) established that 65% of the nurses in the United States healthcare institutions often observed lateral violence behaviors in their colleagues. ... Consequently, these effects enhance professional disengagement, job dissatisfaction, increased turnover and absenteeism, which reduce their performance and productivity in the work places. In this case, patients pay the heaviest price of lateral violence because they receive poor services that expose them to greater health and safety risks (Stanley, 2010). According to Longo and Sherman (2007), lateral violence distracts cognitive abilities of the nurses undermining their concentration at work, leading to increased injuries and errors. Moreover, Griffin (2004) notes that the affected nurses suffer from heightened psychological and physical problems that expose their patients to greater risks. According to Stanley (2010), 67% of nurses in an Australian hospital admitted to making errors when angry about an aggression incident. Kramer (1974) attributes lateral violence to increased nurse turnover in the Unites Statesââ¬â¢ health care institutions. This trend imposes heavy economic b urden to health care institutions. A study conducted by Stanley (2010) in United States acute care hospitals established that turnover expense of one registered nurse cost the institutions from$62,000 to $67,000. In 2007, Stanley (2010) established that the turnover costs of one registered nurse in the country ranged from $82,000 to $88,000 in the whole year. The costs represented a 32% increase in a 5-year period, from 2002 to 2007. Researchers attribute lateral violence in nursing to various factors. Griffin (2004) argues that the aggression results from oppressed group behavior. The profession demands a lot from the nurses and yet they are not given enough

Colonialism - Essay Example Unfortunately this was not Lumumba and he had to go. Patrice Lumumba was assassinated on 17 January, 1961. His assassination was ploted by the U.S and Belgian governments in conjuction with some Congolese accomplices. A Belgian execution squad was set up to kill him. Foreigners invaded Africa in the late 1800s and early 1900s for many reasons. Various African countries were colonised by different countries who were in pursuit of different agendas. For instance, Kenya was colonised by Britain who wanted to conduct slave trade. The following are some of the reasons why African countries were colonised: i. Search for raw materials. While carrying out their excursions, the European realised that Africa was a very rich continent and its inhabitants were yet to realise this. The continent was rich in raw materials for instance; the Beligium invaded Congo partly for its rubber and ivory. Upon colonising these African countries, the European nations acquired labour from the Africans themselves then exported the materials to their homeland. iii. ââ¬ËWestern civilisationââ¬â¢. King Leopold was the Belgian King at the time Congo was colonised. He claimed that he wanted to bring western civilisation to African countries for instance Congo. However, this was a mere ruse meant to distract from his real intentions. The King wanted to amass personal wealth in Congo. Most African countries reacted to their colonisation through violent means, however some countries chose not to oppose their reign for instance Burundi who instead collaborated with the foreigners. Congo was one of the countries who responded through violent means. The Congolese resisted colonisation for many years, killing very many of King Leopoldââ¬â¢s soldiers. One of the famous uprising was led by a chief in the lower Congo rapids, Nzansu. Leopold however retaliated through the use of even severe means of cruelty. Whoever opposed his
Meat Eating - a Necessary Evil Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Meat Eating - a Necessary Evil - Essay Example The most fundamental issue on dietary ethics is that, for most people residing in the developed world, meat eating is not necessary for their survival or health. Therefore, it is concluded that killing animals just because they like the taste of animals is morally unjustifiable and wrong. However, the question that remains, ââ¬Å"Is it really wrong to eat meat?â⬠People have gone ahead to write about this issue one being Jay Bost who wrote an award winning article by the name ââ¬Å"Give Thanks for Meatâ⬠and other writers like Singer, Peter and Mason who wrote the book ââ¬Å"The Ethics of what we eat: why our food choices matterâ⬠. In both cases, the writers talk about the ethicality of meat eating and the killing of animals for meat. Both literatures show deep concern on the issue of animal welfare as they are converted to meat. The main variation between the two is Bost sees meat eating as a not so bad activity while Singer and the other writers have a firm stand on the unethically of meat eating. For this essay, I will be going by the thesis statement that meat eating is a necessary evil. This is because meat does have some nutritional value in for our bodies because meat provides use with protein that is much needed to repair worn out cells and replace dead ones in the body. Although I do not agree with animal mistreatment because is unnecessary and cruel, meat eating does not have to be put in the same category as animal mistreatment.
